Tips for Safely Celebrating Halloween This Year
It’s spooky season, and Halloween is just around the corner! If you’re like most homeowners, you want to make the holiday fun for your neighbors, but also want to keep safety top of mind. Not only are the days shorter, but there will be lots of people outdoors, many of whom are children too young to be vaccinated for COVID-19. If you’re seeking ways to keep the fun alive, but make sure everyone is safe, we’re here to offer a few tips!
Consider decorating your porch, and placing candy a few feet from the door or at the bottom of your front steps.
This way, you can still say “Trick or treat!”, but maintain a safe distance! Another good tip, purchase a bottle or two of sanitizer to put near the candy bowl. Those kids will have their hands in a lot of them!
Make your mask a key part of your costume!
This is the perfect opportunity to bring out your best mask game. So many costumes count on a wonderful mask! Here are a few ideas to get you started. This also keeps the kids engaged and shows them that wearing a mask isn’t just safe, but part of the spirit of Halloween!
If you can, hand out individual mini candy bags.
This reduces the need for many hands in a common bowl, and will deter anyone from searching around the cauldron for their favorite treat. Nice, easy, and fairly inexpensive to make! Here’s a link to a great option for those bags.
No matter what, remember to have fun!
Whether you’re simply staying at home to hand out candy to the neighborhood, or attending a gathering with friends, family, or colleagues, remember that this has been a challenging year for everyone, and it’s important to take the opportunities to smile that come your way.
Stay safe, be well, and have a wonderful Halloween!
